Saturday Night

I played some American style football today with some of the military boys and some locals. I love that game. After we ate some dinner at a local pub and had a few drinks. Its only five in the afternoon but I'm already feeling a bit drunk. Gareth picked me up a few minutes ago and has been laughing at me because he says I keep smiling at him. Why is that so funny? I don't get it. I always smile, why is it so funny now.

After he showers and changes his work clothes, we're going to another party. Its going to be a long night. Wishing everyone else a fun Saturday night wherever you are in the world.

Rest In Peace

The American icon of the Seventies and the American icon of the Eighties die on the same day.

USA Ends Spanish Win Streak

First time I can remember the USA soccer team beating a team the caliber of Spain. Maybe things are finally turning around for that team, but I doubt it. I'll probably see a little green alien before I see another upset like this one. Just kidding, it was amazing and congrats to the team.

Irish Ruggers On A Day Off

Hunk Of The Day

This is my friend Rachel's husband, may she rest in peace. Well, she's not dead yet, but will probably be after he sees his picture on my blog. You see they have a competition to find sexy men and woman to use as backgrounds on their computer. Of course me being the ass I am and Rachel being easily corrupted, have decided to add him to the blog. Now he can be downloaded as a background. Feel free to leave comments describing his sexiness so he can be embarrassed more than he ever thought he could be.

Irish Win ChurchHill Cup

Ireland A won the Churchill Cup Sunday with a convincing display against the England Saxons in the searing heat of Denver.

Declan Kidney's decision to rotate his squad paid off again as they recovered from a slow start to overpower their opponents with a confident six-try performance

Ireland were easily the stronger side after the break - and they started strongly when they scored their third try within 24 seconds of the restart.

Just Remember The Time Difference!

New undersea telecommunications cable could mean faster and cheaper communictions access between the US and Ireland.

Diving crews and engineers are currently working off the Co Antrim coast and hope to bring the cable ashore at Portrush within the next two days.

Towns in the Republic on the cable path to Dublin will include Letterkenny, Castleblaney, Monaghan, Dundalk and Drogheda.

The deadline for the completion of all the work is next March.

Just don't be drunk calling me in the middle of the night! You know who you are!

Freedom Faulters In Iran

On the news this morning, Iran's election authority has rejected claims of voting irregularities, but acknowledged that the number of ballots cast in dozens of cities exceeded the number of eligible voters there. So let me get this straight, more votes were cast than were legally eligible, but there is no voter fraud? The response they gave that it was a landslide victory so how could there be voter fraud is absurd and I can't believe people like this run countries. (And I'm not talking just about Iran on that issue.) It was a landslide election because you cheated and stuffed the ballot boxes or just made up numbers and didn't really count the votes. You thought if its close, people could claim voter fraud, so you chose to make it a landslide victory, but you fooled no one. The sheep have awakened.

Iran's Guardian Council -- which approves all candidates running for office and verifies election results -- said candidate Mohsen Rezaie alleged irregularities in 170 cities, and that excessive ballots were found in 50 cities, according to government-funded Press TV.

Council spokesman Abbas-Ali Kadkhodaei said voting in those locations did not noticeably affect the outcome of the election, adding that the council will continue to investigate complaints that are filed through "legal channels.". The council declared President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad the winner of the June 12 election.

Earlier Sunday, thousands of riot police and militia lined Tehran's streets as the public rift among Iranian leaders appeared to be widening.

The country's foreign minister disputed allegations of ballot irregularities in Iran's disputed presidential election, and the parliamentary speaker implied the nation's election authorities had sided with one candidate .

US Tries To Stop Geronimo From Being Buried

US officials have moved to block a legal bid by descendants of Apache leader Geronimo to have his remains reburied.

Geronimo's relatives say some body parts were stolen almost 100 years ago by members of a society linked to Yale University to keep in their clubhouse.

The relatives want to rebury the warrior, who died in 1909, near his birthplace in New Mexico.

But the justice department has asked a federal judge to dismiss their lawsuit.

The society, known as Skull and Bones, is alleged to have stolen some of Geronimo's remains from a burial plot in Oklahoma in 1918.

Jimmy Fallon

I was always a big fan of Jimmy Fallon and now that he has his own talk-show I watch it all the time online. I'll download the shows and watch them at sea when I'm on overnight watch to help pass the time and keep me awake.

Anyone that knows me, knows that I love a nice smile. I think he has one of the best smiles and it always brings a smile to my face. Some people say he is just a silly idiot, but I like silly. When my closest friends and I get together, that is all we do is laugh.

I've actually gotten several people hooked on his show and several have commented that our personalities are very similar in that we do stupid things and laugh at stupid things. If there was one celebrity I could hang out with, it would be Jimmy Fallon because it would be a time filled with lots of laughs and silliness. With all the problems in today's world, I think we could all use a little more laughter.
