There is a huge protest going on today in Dublin in city centre and ending in Merrion Square. GardaĆ estimate that up to 40,000 people have joined the protest against education cutbacks.
Organisers of the demonstration against cutbacks have claimed it will be one of the biggest marches seen here in recent years.
- More than a third of primary schools in Dublin City and County will lose at least one teacher in September of next year.
- 25 schools will lose language support teachers.
- 74 schools will have classes of 30 pupils or more and 13 of them will have classes with more than 35 pupils.
- Pat Carey is a local Fianna Fail TD and Government whip. He supports budget cuts.
