A Quiet Evening

I got back earlier today from another long voyage at sea. Gareth is out of town having left this morning for a conference and won't be home until I've gone back to sea. So it was just my cats who greeted me at the door when I arrived. But it was a fantastic greeting! They both ran up to me and I picked them up and gave them a hug as they nuzzled their faces into my chest and their purring and my kisses let us all know how much we missed each other.

I made some pina coladas and mesquite smoked chicken with rice and the three of us had a good time just getting caught up on TV shows, eating, and ear scratching. Even though I miss having Gareth here, it was nice to spend some time alone after being stuck on a ship with no privacy. After getting a shower and the cats have settled into their napping, I'm really missing Gareth. The bedroom still smells like his cologne and I've taken one of his shirts and slipped it on and crawled into bed. I tried to sleep, but can't. So I thought I would post some things on this blog and drink another pina colada. Hopefully the rum will help me fall asleep soon.

To everyone else spending a lonely Saturday night, wherever you are, don't be too sad or feel too lonely because I know that happy times filled with love and laughter are just waiting down the road. And if all else fails, get a cat or two, they'll love you unconditionally!

Welcome back. My cats meet me at the door every morning when I get home. I don't know what I would do without them.

You never fail to bring me back to a place of gratitude. Wishing I could do something to ease your loneliness tonight. Sending a smile and a hug from afar.
