Missing You Tonight

I'm on board the ship tonight heading back out to sea.  Having a rough night though concentrating on any work related item as my mind is drifting off thinking of Gareth.  We didn't get to spend much time together this last visit home as he was constantly stuck at work or crashing into the bed for sleep when he got that chance, then grabbing a quick shower and bite to eat and back out he went.

When he dropped me off yesterday we both got a bit teary eyed saying goodbye and I didn't want to let him go.  Ever since I watched him drive off he has been a constant on my mind.  Sitting out here on the deck of the ship under the stars in this lonely world with the still of the waves I'm missing him much.

RIP - Michael Clarke Duncan

I fell asleep on the couch for a few hours with the cats using me for a bean bag.  When Gareth got home from work at the hospital he woke me to say hello and asked me if I heard about the passing of Michael Clarke Duncan?

What a shock, I couldn't believe it.  Only 54 years old, which only reinforces the fact that we're all here for too short a time.  His memory will live on with his movies and in the hearts of all his fans.  Rest in Peace big guy, you'll be missed.

End Days Of Summer

Summer is coming to a quick close and I feel like the summer has just flown by, the children are back at school, a chill is in the evening air, and the kittens are getting big.  But, before the summer comes to an official close, I've planned a trip to take a short vacation to the land of big, beefy Scottish boys like the ones above and to see my friend Hamish.  It's going to be great fun and I can't wait.  But for now, I'm just going to enjoy hanging out at home for a bit and enjoying the quiet life with Gareth and the cats.

Dolphin Race

The most fun thing to me about being on the ocean is when Dolphins find us and decide to race against the ship and surf the waves.

For me, they are the coolest creatures in the ocean and have proven they can be one of mans best friends in the water.  So anytime I get a chance to see them playing and having fun brings a smile to my face.

Olympic Hook-Ups

The company behind a popular dating app for gay men has denied that the influx of athletes and tourists to London for the Olympic Games was behind a sustained disruption to service.
Grindr, an app which displays a list of nearby users based on proximity, and allowing them to exchange messages and pictures, had experienced significant downtime in its services last week.

The downtime coincided with the arrival of many of the London 2012 athletes to the UK’s capital city – prompting British paper the Daily People to write that the arrival of the athletes had placed unprecedented demand on the service.

“It happened almost as soon as the teams got here,” its reported quoted one Londoner as saying. “Either loads of athletes were logging on to meet fellow Olympians or were looking to bag a local.”

Grindr chief executive Joel Simkhai admitted his frustrations with the downtime, and describing the problems as “a challenging thing to address”.

“We’re confident that we got the problem under control, and we put additional measures in place to prevent this kind of disruption from happening again,” he said.

In a further statement to tech news website the Daily Dot, though, the company denied any fanciful suggestions that excessive demand from Olympians had been the cause.

“While we’d love to believe that the best-built men in the world all dressed up in Lycra and congregating in one place can generate a huge increase in Grindr traffic,” the company chuckled, “we can say with confidence that the arrival of the Olympic teams had little or no effect on our server.”
