One Couch And Lots Of Snacks

This is my first weekend alone since Gareth has gone to South Africa with nothing planned. I felt tired and run down most of the week and with a trip to sea coming up I decided to spend this weekend at home. I went to Dunnes on Thursday night and stocked up on food and drink and have spent the weekend lying on the couch watching movies, sports, and lots of news shows about the Yes vote on the Lisbon treaty. A couple friends wanted to stop over for a visit or wanted me to go out, but I wanted to just hang out at home and spend some time alone hanging out in my boxers. I have had a shower, but haven't shaved and now I'm debating on growing a beard.

I sprinkled some salt and pepper on a steak and cooked it in some extra virgin olive oil to go with some rice I made. I also made some brownies and will be munching on them for a snack as I watch some movies. That is my weekend so far. Hope yours is going good and remember if you do go out tonight, be safe.

I love the song I included in this post. Its one of my new favorite songs and the singer is easy on the eyes.

Dublin - Sport Capital Of Europe

Dublin has been named the "European Capital of Sport" for 2010. The announcement was made yesterday at the capital's Mansion House, where a number of the city's top sporting stars turned out to show their support.

Lord Mayor of Dublin, Councillor Emer Costello, said she hoped the award would capture the public's imagination. "It's testimony to the greatness of the achievement by the huge turnout that we've had here today, and the calibre of sportspeople and the different organisations that have got behind this."

"I think that this as an event - Dublin as the Capital of Sport - will capture the imagination of Dubliners, but I think it will also have a nationwide impact"

The title is awarded by the European Capitals of Sport Association, and the GAA, FAI and IRFU will be amongst the major sporting bodies helping to promote sport in the capital next year. Former WBA super-bantamweight champion Bernard Dunne was amongst those on hand to support the announcement.

The fighter is hoping to be involved in promoting the event, and encouraging youth participation. "Dublin City - to me it's my home, and it's an honour to represent." Dunne said.

"If we can promote sport and promote Dublin as a county, not just in Ireland but around the world and encourage kids to get involved in sport that's everything I stand for."

Eddie Rockets Of Dublin

Had lunch today at Eddie Rockets with Hamish and his Scottish cousin Seamus. Americans will know this place as Johnny Rockets. Famous for its hamburgers and malt shakes. The Hamish clan are having a family get together this weekend and I have had great fun getting to meet all the family members that have come from Scotland, Wales, and around Ireland.

His cousin Seamus, who is straight, has taken a liken to me and we've become fast friends. He's a big, burly man in his early thirties with a deep voice that sounds like God talking to you when he stands behind you. The men of the family all put kilts on for a family photo earlier today and I have to say this family of men have really nice legs. When they all turned around and bent over and pulled their kilts up and mooned the camera, I couldn't tell if the whites of their asses or the flash of the camera were brighter!

We're at my place right now for a few while I feed my cats before we head out for the evening with several of their family members. Should be a fun night. Wishing everyone else a fun evening and wherever you are keep smiling.
