Sunrise

My cat loves to sit in the window and watch the sunrise each morning. He has been doing this since he was a little kitten. Every morning when I wake I can find him sitting in his spot at the window. He always greets me with a kiss and a morning yawn.

As many of you that read my blog know, I get up early in the morning each week day to go to work. Me mate and I have talked several times that it would be nice one day to get up and enjoy the sunrise on the beach instead of me rushing off to work. Today we both woke early and decided to get up and enjoy the sunrise and an early morning breakfast.
Now having done this, we have decided to head back to bed for a day of leisure and snuggling. So much for getting up early and seizing the day. Of course, being in bed with me mate all day, hopefully the sun won't be the only thing I see rising today! Come to think of it, I better go pour him some Wheaties right now to keep his strength up.

Black Tie Night

Tonight we are going to a black-tie charity event to support an organization that raises money to help orphaned children from around the world.

This is a charity my cousin has been involved with for several years now. He has been sponsoring several orphanages in South America and I know when he finally settles down he will probably be adopting some children.

So when he asked us to attend the event I could not say no to the cause even though it means I have to dress up in a monkey suit.

But now that me and my guy have started getting dressed, its become somewhat fun.

Actually it's kind of sexy helping each other get dressed. Fixing each others collars and ties, attaching the gold cufflinks to the shirt, and buttoning his shirt up and helping him tuck it nice and neat into his pants. Of course I lingered on that part for a few moments. I do have to say he has a great ass in these black pants.

I just found out he rented us a car and driver for the night to pick us up and bring us home from the event. Which means we can both drink safely now.

Now I am hoping that we have a fun evening, they raise lots of money for the children who need some hope in their lives, and then we can come home, hopefully a little liquored up and we can start the real fun of the night undressing each other.

I have been listening to this song today as we get ready and it helps me get in the mood to go out tonight and have some fun on the town.

BBQ Party

Tonight we are having a BBQ Party. Lots of beer, food, and friends and MUSIC. Music is always a big part of life, so here are some summer songs for you to enjoy. Another weekend is here, so to everyone having their own party or going out tonight, have a great time and be safe.

I like listening to Enrique's music when I am on the beach between surfing breaks. The funniest thing is when I am out sitting on me board waiting for a wave and I can just faintly hear this song playing from the beach. I look in and see me boyfriend doing a little dance, which is the funniest thing if you knew him. I can't count how many times I have sat out on the board in the ocean riding the waves watching him do that little dance and thinking I am so glad no one on the beach right now knows I am with him. Just having a go buddy, love you.

Oscar the Angel Cat

I think this is a wonderful story of a cat who has chosen to spend his life comforting those about to die. After a lifetime of hardship and trials, no one should have to die alone. It would be comforting to know that someone, even one of our four legged friends was beside me when I died.

Of course if I was sitting in bed eating some snackies and watching the telly and he jumped on the bed and curled up next to me, I would be like, oh crap.

But seriously, he is Angel amongst us and may he himself live a long 9 lives.

When Oscar the Cat visits residents of the Steere House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Providence, Rhode Island, the staff jumps into action -- Oscar can sense within hours when someone is about to die.

In his two years living in Steere's end-stage dementia unit, Oscar has been at the bedside of more than 25 residents shortly before they died, according to Dr. David Dosa of Brown University in Providence.

He wrote about Oscar in the New England Journal of Medicine.
"It's not that the cat is consistently there first," Dr. Joan Teno, a professor of community health at Brown University, who sees patients in the unit. "But the cat always does manage to make an appearance, and it always seems to be in the last two hours."

Raised at the nursing home since he was a kitten, Oscar often checks in on residents, but when he curls up for a visit, physicians and nursing home staff know it's time to call the family.
"I don't think this is a psychic cat," said Teno. "I think there's probably a biochemical explanation," she said in a telephone interview.

While pets are often used to bring comfort to the elderly in nursing home settings, Oscar's talent is special, though not unexpected.
"That is such a cat thing to do," said Thomas Graves, a feline expert and chief of small animal medicine at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine.

Graves said there is no evidence to suggest cats can sense death, but he doesn't discount it for a minute.
"Those things are hard to study. I think probably dogs and cats can sense things we can't," he said.

On a particular day detailed by Dr. Dosa, Oscar settled onto the bed of a patient in room 313.
His presence sent staff off to make calls and set up vigil.

When a grandson asked why the cat was there, his mother explained: "He is here to help Grandma get to heaven," according to Dosa's account.
She died a half an hour later.

Speaking Up

Anybody that knows me or has read this blog knows I have a thing for Shane Filan. I saw this interview I have attached when it first aired and loved what Mark and Shane said. I forgot about the interview for awhile, but the gay marriage talk lately in Ireland made me remember this interview.

They are being interviewed and Mark is asked about his relationship. When the interviewer makes a remark about how Mark doesn't need to get married because he can't have babies with his partner, Shane jumps right in and disagrees with that statement. His response just makes me love him even more.

I hope to one day get married to the man I love and adopt a child or two. The argument that gay people should not get married because they can't have children shows the ignorance of the person making the statement. I love that Shane called the interviewer out on it.

An Inconvenient Truth

I finally got around to watching this Al Gore movie tonight and I loved it. The man who should be President put together a great movie. I have been a fan of Al Gore for years and the reason I actually voted for Clinton the first time was because he chose Al Gore as his VP. I am still watching Al closely to see if he will enter the Presidential race this time. I don't think he will, but if he does he already has one vote.

Gay Marriage In Ireland

Launching the newly refurbished Outhouse, Dublin’s lesbian and gay centre, an Taoiseach Bertie Ahern promised to legislate for Civil Partnerships at the earliest possible date.

The Taoiseach visited OUThouse on Monday, July 16 to launch the newly renovated building. During his speech he made special reference to Civil Partnership legislation.

“This Government is committed to full equality of opportunity for all in our society,” he said. “Our Programme for Government reflects this. In particular, we are committed to providing a more supportive and secure legal environment for same-sex couples.

“Taking into account the Options Paper prepared by the Colley Group, and the pending Supreme Court case, we will legislate for Civil Partnerships at the earliest possible date in the lifetime of this Government.”

The Colley Group report recommends that gay couples who want to form a legal partnership are given all the rights and responsibilities that married heterosexuals now enjoy.

Mr Ahern also made special mention of the OUThouse Garda Advice Service, which facilitates the gay community in reporting crime.

“This element of the Garda Community Safety Strategy reflects a wider commitment to listen to community concerns and to meet with gay and lesbian people on their home ground,” he said.

Moncia Hynds, chair of the OUThouse committee welcomed Mr Ahern to OUThouse.

“This is a pivotal time for Irish society, our community and this centre,” she said, “and we are pleased that the Taoiseach has chosen now to pay us an official visit.

“Those involved with OUThouse have demonstrated their capacity for active citizenship and volunteerism; we hope for and anticipate a time when we can all be treated as full citizens and equal members of Irish society.”

Road Trip

Our weekend tour of Ireland is now over. We are home and relaxing. The cats went along with us this weekend and needless to say, they are glad to be back home relaxing in familiar surroundings.

I have been suffering from nose bleeds lately, so we skipped the bike ride in the morning and went to see a local doctor. He said it was probably being caused from stress and fatigue and that I need to rest for awhile and stop trying to do so much. No traveling, no surfing, no exercising. Just rest and relaxation. Hopefully these nosebleeds will clear up fast because I don't know if I can stick to a do nothing schedule.

I actually saw some real Shamrocks this weekend. Although I didn't find any four leaf clovers or Leprechauns.

At night and early morning, near the coast, the fog would roll in and everything became eerie looking. The cottage we stayed in last night was alone in the country. The nearest neighbors were miles away. The fog rolled in and engulfed the cottage. When you looked out the windows, you couldn't see two feet in front of you. It was almost as if the rest of the world ceased to exist and we were the only two people left on Earth.

Because of the amount of rain Ireland gets, everything stays green all summer long. We stopped to visit some of my mates friends and their families along the way. Everyone is very friendly, but I noticed the closer to the west coast of Ireland you get, the harsher the Irish accent.

Sunday night, time to relax and get ready for another week of work. Since I am supposed to take it easy for awhile, I think we will try and see some movies in the theaters this week.

Cottage In The Country

We decided to do some site-seeing this weekend. I am still amazed by the beauty of Ireland. I love the fact that I can go from green rolling hill countryside to the beach in a matter of moments. Everything is within driving distance and makes it very easy to take day trips.
Tonight we are staying at a little cottage in the country. Its cozy and romantic. Although when the fog sets in, it seems a little eerie. Its has been a little chilly and we are both fighting off colds. We had a nice steak dinner at a local eatery. Now we are going to settle down in the cottage for the night and enjoy Saturday night. Tomorrow we are going to get up and take a hike on a nature trail nearby.

Sasa Kovacevic

We just got back from the pub tonight and now we are listening to Sasa Kovacevic. Its very relaxing music and he is handsome to look at.

The weekend is almost here. This weekend, we are going to do some site-seeing around Ireland. We have not decided what direction to head, going to play it all by ear. But if it doesn't rain I am hoping we can get some surfing in. If it rains, we will just have to take our clothes off and run around naked in the rain. Ok, maybe not.

Working Late

I had to go in to work tonight to deal with some computer glitches. Why do these things always happen in the middle of the night? I love my job, but I hate it when computers go down in the middle of the night. Yeah, I'm whining and I am allowed. I practically did a double shift today. I am tired, hungry, dirty. Time to go get a shower, eat some food, and take a long sleep.

Eating Healthy

I have been eating all the wrong things lately. So today I am going to try and eat better foods than what I have been doing. When I want a snack, I am going to eat some fruit instead of a cookie or something worse. Its not a diet, I am just changing the way I eat for a more healthy lifestyle.

I cleaned my fridge and cupboards out and got rid of all the junk food. I didn't realize how much junk food I bought until I saw it all sitting on the kitchen table.

I am off to work. Going in early today. Everyone have a great week. Another week of work starts, yippee.
