Dinner at Shanahan's last night was great. It was one of the best steaks I have had in a long time. It's expensive to eat there, but well worth it. After dinner we went to the Westin on College Street. This used to be a bank, but they transformed it into a beautiful hotel. This is definitely a five star hotel and I didn't even ask him how much it cost him to get us this room. By the time we checked into the room I was thinking to myself that this is much to expensive a night to just celebrate a new job.
The bathrooms in this place are marble and huge. The tub was so big I had to take a bubble bath. (Hey, I'm gay, I'm allowed!) He had champagne delivered to the room and after pouring two glasses, we got in the tub. I was leaning against his chest and we we're talking, laughing, and having fun when he asked me to move in with him and slipped a ring on my finger. The ring had belonged to his father and he wanted me to have this ring to symbolize the promise that he wanted us to make to each other tonight. He told me I am the one he wants to spend the rest of his life with and if I felt the same he wanted me to take the ring and make a promise that we would begin taking the steps that will lead us to becoming a family.
I sat silent for a moment processing what just happened. That made him nervous and he started stuttering and stammering. So I kissed him and said I promise. The smile of boyish relief and happiness that came across his face was the cutest smile I have ever seen on him and I fell in love with him all over again.
And you had no idea where this whole night was leading? That's so amazingly awesome! I couldn't be more happy for you!! (Well maybe, if I could see the screen through the tears!) You deserve this, babes!! I'm so excited I just want to squeal like a little girl!
ReplyDeleteThanks my friend, that means a lot to me. You and I have been through many things together, including my big crush on you. If I hadn't come to Ireland I would probably be in Kansas right now.
ReplyDeleteYou'll always have a special place in my heart and I can't wait to one day share in your good news.
I am so happy for you both. You are perfect together. Gay men rule.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations my friend. Speaking as your best friend I can say he is a lucky man to have you in his life. Does this mean I have to be a bridesmaid? lol
ReplyDeleteI don't understand homosexuality and I don't read your blog. But I like you as a person and when they told me about this I had to tell you that when I saw you two together during your last visit, seeing how you both behaved made me see with my own eyes that two men can love each other. What I;m trying to say is congratulations.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for you cousin. He is a great man and you have really impressed me with how much you have grown over the last year.
ReplyDeleteReading this wonderful memoir made me very very happy for you both. And for myself - well, your story repaired something in me that was broken and hurting me a great deal. So thank you. Have a blessed life together.
